Main Idea: We grow in wisdom and favor when we surrounded by godly people.
Jesus grew as a boy, through the faithfulness and obedience of his parents and by the witness of godly people in his life. I pray that as a church family, we can do the same for each other and for those that follow behind us in following after Jesus.

Main Idea: Jesus’ lowly birth show us that God’s kingdom will come in ways that surprise and subvert our expectations about what true greatness and power look like.
It would do us good to remind ourselves of the humility of Jesus. Christmas was only 6 months ago, but in 2020 it feels like an eternity ago. Today is Christmas in July and we’ll look at the Christmas passage in Luke. Jesus became poor so that his people might become spiritually rich through his poverty and suffering. Before his incarnation, the Son of God was rich beyond anything we could imagine. For our sake he stooped to be born not merely as a human, but as a powerless infant in a barn outside an inn in an insignificant town. Jesus became low in order that we might inherit a great spiritual treasure. True greatness is not always visible greatness.
This morning we will look at the first 21 verses of chapter 2 and it is broken up in 3 different scenes as Luke walks through the Amazing Birth. The first is the Birth verses 1-7; the second is the Announcement verses 8-14 and last is the Visit with verses 15-21.

Main Idea: The humble will be exalted in God’s mercy and the proud will be humbled in judgment.
This is a theme that we find a lot in the scriptures and a thought that we are familiar with. But we see it so clearly in the life of Elizabeth and Mary and I pray that God can apply this lesson to our lives as well. God is merciful to those who fear him and His power is able to overcome the proud. I hope you can see his mercy clearly this morning. I have three points (1) The Magnificant, (2) The Fidelium, and (3) The Benedictus

Sunday Jun 21, 2020

Main idea: The power of God doesn’t belong just in history, but in the present. His power is mysterious, but not distant; his power strengthens the powerless. We see this most clearly in the incarnation of Jesus Christ here in Luke 1. So my three points from verses 26-45 this morning as as follows: (1) God’s present power (2) God’s mysterious power and (3) God’s strengthening power.

Main Idea: Your beliefs about God will shape how you will respond to the issues in this world. Unbelief, it is the practical denial of God’s Almighty power. Luke writes his account so that you have certainty concerning Christ and his power for your life. Pastor Jeff shares two points from Luke 1:1-25 - The Certainty of Truth, and The Certainty of God.
